On the Friday before this was recorded, I was in music theory watching a documentary on jazz. I got bored around the part of Jelly Roll Norton, so I asked for a piece of blank sheet music and I began transcribing a free-form piano piece. Recording this at home with a detuned piano helped to add a strange quality to it, which was a sweet, consonant tone that worked well with the reverb pedal.
