For an English assignment. I don't think it requires art. The lyrics, unlike my other songs, are spaced apart by stanza to aid my teacher.
lyrics
Wasted hours staring
At a fiber-optic screen
Staring at the typed words
Not knowing what they mean
Nothing I have done
Has been a worthwhile use of time
I'm sitting with guitar in hand
And making silly rhymes
But you can excel
Where I have failed
Just push your boat to sea
And make sure they're paper sails
Cause if they're made of plastic
Like mine have always been
Your dreams will never cross the water
If you don't start now, then when?
Just heed my words, kids
For me it's too late
This is what happens
When you choose to wait
Go read a book, kids
Or go plant a tree
Just don't end up like I did
Don't be like me
For you there's still hope
I can contribute not
But I can just plant
The seed of the thought
A thought for the future
A thought for your life
A thought for your possible
Husband or wife
And you can excel
Where I have failed
Just push your boat to sea
And make sure they're paper sails
Cause if they're made of plastic
Like mine have always been
Your dreams will never cross the water
If you don't start now, then when?
Wasted hours staring
At a fiber-optic screen
Staring at the typed words
Not knowing what they mean
Nothing I have done
Has been a worthwhile use of time
I'm sitting with guitar in hand
And making silly rhymes
But you can excel
Where I have failed
Just push your boat to sea
And make sure they're paper sails
Cause if they're made of plastic
Like mine have always been
Your dreams will never cross the water
If you don't start now, then when?
Semi-orchestral folk rock with themes of gender confusion, comparable to Neutral Milk Hotel. It's incredible, you should definitely listen. Charlie Perez
